About Sean

Sean Browning

Sean Browning has advised Colorado families on insurance since 2015. He owns Browning Insurance Agency, and over the last several years his work has moved toward the questions that come up at the end of a working life.

That shift happened for a straightforward reason: the clients he’d been insuring for a decade started retiring, and the questions changed. Not “what’s my rate” but “how do I turn this into a paycheck,” and “what happens to my wife if I die first,” and “what if one of us needs care.”

Answering those well takes more than a license, so he went and got the education. The Retirement Income Certified Professional designation is a graduate-level program built specifically around retirement income — sequence-of-returns risk, Social Security and pension timing, drawdown strategy, and where insurance products fit among them.

He’s an independent producer, which means he compares contracts across the carriers the agency represents rather than selling one company’s shelf. And he works alongside the same team that handles your home and auto coverage, in the same offices, with the same phone number.

About the RICP® designation

The Retirement Income Certified Professional designation is conferred by The American College of Financial Services, an accredited institution — the same college that grants the CLU and ChFC designations.

It requires graduate-level coursework, examination, ongoing continuing education, and adherence to the College’s code of ethics. The program was built and for years directed by Dr. Wade Pfau, whose research on retirement income is among the most cited in the field.

It is a credential in retirement income planning as it relates to insurance products. Sean is a licensed insurance producer, not an investment adviser or registered representative, and does not sell securities or manage investments.

How he works

Nothing gets recommended in a first meeting. The first conversation is about your situation, not a product. If someone tries to sell you an annuity forty minutes after meeting you, that person doesn’t know enough about you to be recommending anything.

Both columns, every time. When an illustration is on the table, the guaranteed values sit next to the non-guaranteed ones, and the assumptions behind the non-guaranteed column get explained before anything is signed.

The trade-offs get named. Every product has them — surrender charges, caps, limits on access to your money. Those belong in the conversation, not in the paperwork you read later.

You take it home. Talk to your spouse, your accountant, your kids. Nothing about this needs deciding today.

The rest of the team

Browning Life and Retirement Solutions is a trade name of Browning Insurance Agency, LLC — the same agency, the same license, the same people. Emily Browning manages the agency’s property and casualty operations, along with compliance and service.

The agency works out of Longmont and has been serving families, businesses, and farms across Colorado and surrounding states since 2015. If you already have your home and auto with us, you’re working with the same team. If you don’t, you’re under no obligation to move it.
